🎀 I know bows are trending but...
This little gem of a powder room was a complete surprise when we bought the house. I could tell that the previous owners truly loved and cared for this home and had great taste. But it was time to transform this powder room from sweet and feminine into a more contemporary yet classic powder that will impress guests, while keeping some of the whimsy.
We replaced everything including the bow adorned toilet and sink, mixed polished nickle and aged brass finishes, installed a marble mosiac tile floor, and added this Cole and Son wallpaper that I had been dying to use. 🌿

What’s your favorite feature?
Planning a kitchen remodel in the near future? This is the time of year people often start thinking about if their kitchen is set up in the most effective way possible to enjoy holiday gatherings. Before you take on this massive project, I have a few things I want you to know ⤵️
🖼️ Start by creating a vision for your kitchen’s look and feel by researching images in magazines, books, and online. I still love and use Pinterest for this!
📋 Decide on a budget - this is best done by working closely with your contractor and designer. It’s often shocking how expensive kitchen remodels can be, but it’s also completely possible to get a beautiful, more functional kitchen than you currently have without blowing the budget.
🛠️ Work with a professional on cabinetry, electrical, and appliance layout. You don’t want to regret having a drawer or door you can’t use because the oven handle blocks it from opening.
🔍 Now for the details! Research, sample, and select countertop, stone and tile, plumbing fixtures and finishes, and lighting (plus cabinet hardware, grout, edge profile, transitions, undercabinet lighting, outlet covers, disposal switches, toekick design, etc).
🗝️ Add in layers and make it personal. Add art, your grandmothers favorite mixing bowl, and vintage pieces to add character and charm.
🤔 If you’ve recently completed a kitchen remodel, what’s one thing you wish you knew ahead of time?
P.S. If you’re in the middle of a kitchen remodel and want to review your options with a professional, but don’t need to hire a full-service designer, you can book a Design Consultation with me to review your vision, floorplans, and selections to ensure you’re happy with the end result. You might be wondering - do I really need an interior designer? 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe, maybe not... but if you’re on the fence, here are a few ways working with one can benefit you and your home:
⌚Save you time: Knowing what decisions need to be made and overseeing timelines, coordinating and collaborating with vendors, and narrowing down options helps keep your home remodel on time and on budget.
🧑🎓Expertise: As an interior designer, I’m trained in areas like color selections, space planning, finish selection, and which materials will last depending on your goals. I also have experience solving problems that might arise in your spaces as we work on your project. Even if your home has an odd or quirky issue, I have a wealth of knowledge outside your wheelhouse that we can tap into and create a unique solution.
🏡 Cohesion: Sometimes it’s hard to see the forest through the trees, but as an interior designer I can see the bigger picture and help create cohesion in a room as well as throughout your home.

Happy weekend, everyone! ☕️✨🍷
Take it from an interior designer: This is what you really need to know about your home ⬇️
✨It doesn’t have to be perfect.
Perfect is boring - and unrealistic! Our lives our messy and although it’s normal to want our homes to be organized and calm, you might find yourself getting disappointed if “perfect” is the goal. It’s ok if there are spaces in your home that are still “in progress”.
✨It takes time...like lots of time.
Hours and hours to research, plan, research again, order, track, install, and tweak. And then more time to do that for every single room. Add all of this to your day job, caring for a family, and having any free time, no wonder people hire an interior designer!😉
✨ It should evolve as your life does, but don’t feel like you have to keep up with the trends.
Designing your home with timeless and classic elements will allow it to evolve more easily over the years. Pillows, bedding, accessories, decor, and paint are easier to change based on the seasons of life than millwork, hard finishes, and large furniture.

When I first start a design project for a client, I begin with finding out how they’re currently using their space and what they wish they could change. Do they like to start their morning at the kitchen counter, or do they wish they had a breakfast nook? Are they constantly trying to cram their clothes into any spare bit of space, or is the closet actually a bit too large and they’d love more space for a sofa or vanity?
Whether it’s a full remodel or refreshing the furnishings in a room, I go in depth with my clients about
▪️their likes and dislikes
▪️ what works and what needs to change
▪️and discuss any pieces of furniture or decor that they already have and want to incorporate.
For example, it’s a piece of furniture, we can explore having it recovered in a more modern fabric, or having a piece of art placed in a new frame, or using a vintage quilt their grandmother sewed by hand as an inspiration piece for their child’s room.
We aim to create moments throughout their home where they can have their coffee in the morning, enjoy a glass of wine with friends on the weekend, or spend time together as a family - where memories can be created.

Come spend the day at the Washington Design Center.
I spent the morning at a @sherwinwilliams Colormix presentation learning about 2025 color trends at @centuryfurniture_wdc, then ogled beautiful tiles at @rentile_dc 😍

I had the opportunity to walk through the @merrittgallery in Baltimore this week and fell in love with so many pieces! The pictures don’t even do them justice. It’s a great place to go for inspiration and a statement piece for your home.
Which pieces caught your eye? My favorites are the photographs from Xan Padron of people walking, and Joseph Adolphe’s “An Awakening No. 1” (the big yellow one 💛) - I could stand there all day examining them.
Thank you @rachelisarockstar1 for the invite!
Memories aren’t just for putting in photo frames. 🖼️ They also fundamentally shape what our homes look like and, if we let them, make a positive impact on our enjoyment of those homes.
My passion for interior design goes back to a very early age as I look back on memories of my mom. She loved antiques, touring historic homes, and cozying up with a pile of her favorite design magazines and books.
I was lucky to have her pass that passion on to me, as my parents allowed me to redecorate my bedroom - letting me choose the wall color, pick out new bedding, and decide where to put the furniture. Looking back, they gave me a lot of freedom with my choices (like the time I painted a maroon border around the room with dark gray walls and insisted on putting my mattress right on the floor because it seemed cool 😅). Although that bedroom has been painted over and now has a proper bed frame, I loved that feeling of being in control of how my space felt and took pride in creating it myself.
And since starting a family, I’ve become much more aware of how any design choices I make are impacted by our children. There’s a balance to designing beautiful spaces that also function well with two young children, a balance I love exploring and refining as I design our home where we’ll create memories for our own family.
What memory has impacted you the most when it comes to your home and design choices?
