Our portfolio is guided by a deep respect for history, for each client’s identity, and for the footsteps that will walk their halls in the future.
This is how historic homes step forward through time.
A newly married couple moved into this 1990s colonial as their first home together, looking to bring in a sense of history and permanence. We refined the existing layout by introducing architectural details — crown molding, paneling, and defined transitions — that add depth and structure to each space.
We carried that same approach into the material palette, updating the home with elements like a marble mosaic floor, blue floral wallpaper, and tailored millwork in the powder room. These changes give the home a stronger sense of character and continuity, creating a space that feels grounded and reflective of this new chapter in their lives.
This home came with a strong foundation, so we focused on creating cohesion and warmth for a young family with two children and a dog. Rather than altering the structure, we introduced a unified color story, layered lighting, and thoughtful updates to the kitchen and surrounding spaces.
We wove antiques, heirlooms, and vintage pieces throughout the home, balancing them with new elements to create depth and continuity. Painted trim and interior brickwork highlight the home’s architectural features, allowing its traditional character to feel more intentional. The result is a home that feels collected, lived-in, and aligned with the family’s daily life.
For this growing family, the existing kitchen no longer supported the way they lived — dark, enclosed, and disconnected from daily activity. We reconfigured the layout entirely, relocating the kitchen into a light-filled sunroom, transforming a breezeway into a functional pantry, and creating space for a large dining table where the whole family can gather.
We centered the design on timeless materials and lasting function, incorporating inset cabinetry, brass hardware, and a generous island that anchors both cooking and connection. Every decision supports the rhythm of a full household, resulting in a kitchen that feels bright, welcoming, and built for everyday life.
We fully reimagined this Washington, DC townhome to serve as this couple’s primary residence — distinct from their second, coastal retreat in Annapolis and grounded in their daily life in the city. The project included a new kitchen, four bathrooms, and the transformation of an unfinished basement into a media space, gym, and additional living areas.
Inspired by a blend of Nancy Meyers warmth and Ralph Lauren classicism, we designed a home that feels tailored and inviting without leaning overly coastal. Now, the kitchen supports an avid home cook with both function and warmth, while each bathroom carries its own identity through materials like green marble mosaics and blue-and-white stone. Throughout the home, we selected details that feel familiar and personal — all the way down to hardware that echoes our client’s childhood — resulting in a space that feels both layered and expressive.
A young couple purchased this early 19th-century Georgetown home as they began growing
their family. Drawn to its history, charm, and architectural quirks, they preferred not to rework
the home entirely. Instead, we focused on thoughtful refinement. We introduced lighting,
wallpaper, paint, and kitchen and bath updates that support their daily life while preserving the
home’s original character.
We carefully protected centuries-old details, from carved elements to varied ceiling heights and
floors, while layering in materials that feel true to the home’s era. Handcrafted Adelphi wallpaper
and artisan hardware — sourced through the clients’ own appreciation for history — anchor the
design, creating a home that feels deeply rooted yet ready for its next chapter.
